The El Diamante Miners defeated the Hanford Bullpups 45-28 in a West Yosemite League dual wrestling match Wednesday in Hanford.
Jacob Ruelas started the night for the Miners with a first-period pin in the 138-pound match.
The Miners picked up three pivotal wins in some of the upper-weight classes. Steven Garza (182) posted a first-round pin, followed by another victory via a fall from Roque Ortiz (195). Edgar Martinez won the 220-pound bout with a forfeit.
Also picking up wins via pins for El Diamante were Ivan Aguirre (106) and Jacob Delgado (120). The Miners' William McDarment won the 132-pound match with an 8-1 decision. Jordan Ruelas (160) won by forfeit.
Girls Basketball
Exeter 55, Strathmore 14: Danica Todd scored 12 points to lead the Monarchs in a blowout nonleague win over the Spartans.
Exeter (10-5) did not allow more than five points in any quarter. Kandyce Gurrola led Strathmore (5-11) with eight points.
Exeter's next game is 6 p.m. Friday at Lindsay. Strathmore's next game is at 7 p.m. Friday at Washington Union.
