Comments: "He put in a lot of hard work this year. He is definitely a hard worker. Self driven. Self motivated. Knows what he wants. Puts a lot of pressure on himself to succeed. Easy to coach. He' s a team leader and team captain. He showed a lot of maturity as a sophomore to lead our team. He's dedicated. He pushes others to be their best." -- El Diamante coach Ben Gimlin

Comments: "Chu Chee Salas is a student of running. He is incredibly meticulous about the details of his sport. He is willing to get up early in the morning to bring his weekly mileage total up, and he is very good at running his workouts at just the pace they are supposed to be run. He is willing to push himself to his limits in workouts and in races." -- Monache coach Brian Cruess

Comments: "He has been my All-American for three years. He has also been my captain for cross-country for three years. He works out hard in his training." -- Golden West coach Juan Garcia

Robert Reid

School: Exeter

Grade: Senior

Highlights: Reid ran his fastest 5K time of the season (16:12) to win the Central Section Division IV title. He finished as the Central Sequoia League runner-up with a 5K time of 16:49.44. He also finished 30th at the CIF Division IV state meet with a 5K time of 16:35. His fastest three-mile time of the season was 15:29.7 for sixth place at the John Seaman's Invitational.

Comments: "Robby, he's very competitive. That kid, he's a hard worker. I'm not saying he doesn't listen to me, but he wants to run hard all the time. Once he matures and gets stronger and can run hard all the time, he's going to be a fireball. When he's got control of what he's doing -- if he focuses on what he has to do, he'll do it." -- Exeter coach Isaac Gonzales

Eric Molina

Highlights: Molina placed third at the West Yosemite League championships with a 5K time of 16:30. He finished fifth at the Central Section Division II meet with a 5K time of 16:22 and 85th at the CIF Division II state meet with a 5K time of 16:34. His fastest 5K time of the season was 16:14 to place 24th at the Clovis Invitational. His fastest three-mile time was 15:51 at the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational.

Comments: "Eric leads by example. He has the team concept down. He decided last year he would work hard through summer and make it through summer. His goal was to win league. We did, a year ahead of schedule. We finished fifth at valley. We're looking to be in the Top 2 next year at a minimum." -- Redwood coach Joe Gonzales

Sam Aleman

School: Exeter

Grade: Junior

Highlights: Aleman placed third at the Central Section Division IV meet with a career low 5K time of 16:36 after taking fourth at the Central Sequoia League championship. He finished 58th at the CIF Division IV state meet with a 5K time of 16:54 and finished fourth at the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational with a three-mile time of 16:47.

Comments: "I think when he was 15 he was ranked Top 5 in the nation as a triathlete. I told him, 'If you really want to get good in cross country, you're going to have to start coming to practice.' This year he took it upon himself to focus on cross country. It's paid off for him. His times dropped. He dropped 30-40 seconds compared to the year before." -- Exeter coach Isaac Gonzales
