BERLIN The Berlin Indians girls basketball team got an outstanding night from Maddie Koster and got clutch free throws from Callie Walker to pick up a big 56-55 victory over the Little Chute Mustangs on Monday.
The game was back and forth throughout. The Indians found themselves down one with 11 seconds left when they drove the length of the floor and found Callie Walker, who was fouled and went to the line.
She made both to give Berlin the lead and then intercepted the long inbounds pass of the Mustangs to give the Indians the victory.
The real story of the night was guard Maddie Koster, who went off for a season-high 25 points, which led all scorers in the victory.
"I really had though that she could do this all year long and hoped that she would average around 15 a game," Berlin coach Joel Johansen said. "But she's our point guard and doesn't get a chance to take it upon herself to score.
"Tonight with the way they were guarding she was able to take to it to the hole and they struggled to find someone who could stop her."
Walker also hit double digits in the victory, scoring 16 points, while Laura Trochinski chipped in with 10 for Berlin.
