Lauren Frazier was officially named the Schalick High School field hockey coach Thursday night after being approved by the school board, according to athletic director Mike Clarke.
Frazier replaces Anne Marie Mercado, who guided the Cougars to two sectional championships in the last three years and a state final appearance last fall. Mercado, who stepped away to spend more time with her family, recorded 80 career wins in six seasons, including 18 last year.
Frazier was a standout at Glassboro and helped guide the Bulldogs to the Group II state final in her senior year. She later played collegiately at William Patterson University.
