The Sickles defense has been the star of the show to start the season and that theme continued Friday night. The Gryphons beat Steinbrenner, 44-17.
Sickles came into the game allowing just seven points per game. The Gryphons scored touchdowns on each of their first two possessions. Issac Holder found Jaaron Barrett for a long touchdown pass down the sideline just three plays into the game.
Later in the first quarter, Ray Ray McCloud scored on a criss-crossing run to the endzone to give Sickles a 14-0 lead.
Steinbrenner answered with a long touchdown drive and recovered a surprise onside kick, but McCloud punched in a 1-yard touchdown run on 4th-and-Goal to give Sickles all the breathing room they'd need.
The Gryphons are off to a 4-0 start. They will travel to Freedom next week. Steinbrenner will host Tampa Bay Tech.
