Tampa, Florida- The Hillsborough County Public Schools Athletics Office has announced that all high school football games originally scheduled for Friday, August 31, will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 1.
Due to the Republican National Convention in Tampa the week of August 27- 30, the district announced in June that it would not hold any sporting events that week.
Concerns were raised about security for Friday night football games, because local law enforcement officers likely still would be on RNC-related assignments, and would not be available to serve as off-duty security.
