Volleyball roundup: Buss, Patriots sweep BV for third place

Steph Buss had 14 kills and six blocks to help Lincoln fend off elimination with a 25-10, 25-15, 25-16 win over Brandon Valley in Tuesday's District 2AA third place match.

The Patriots (6-17) will visit O'Gorman/Roosevelt on Friday for a state tournament berth, while the Lynx are eliminated from postseason play.

Maddie Schultz had 29 assists, Katie Sim 12 digs, Chelsey Davis 11 digs and Abbie Jarratt seven kills for Lincoln.

For Brandon Valley (7-14), Lexi Hoover had 14 assists and 11 digs while Emme Sumner had five kills, Val Peltier four kills and Hannah Stensrud four kills.

District 3AA

HURON def. PIERRE 18-25, 25-12, 25-22, 25-21 in Huron - Katleyn Allerdings had 18 kills and Halee Allerdings 15 kills for the Tigers (13-9). Jacey Hupp added three solo blocks and two block assists, Makayla Goergen 43 assists and Taylar Rotert 25 digs. No stats were reported for Pierre. Huron hosts Rapid City Central match.

Region 1A

ABERDEEN RONCALLI def. MILBANK 26-28, 25-15, 25-14, 26-24 in Milbank - Abby Dockter had 21 kills to lead the Cavaliers to a state tournament berth. Lindsey Hahler had 10 kills, Anna Saylor had seven kills, Taylor Hanson had 27 digs and Alyssa Wherry 13, Allie Lundquist had 31 set assists and three aces.

For Milbank, Kendra Snaza had 20 kills and 20 digs, Brittany Ackerman had eight kills, Abbie Snaza had 11 kills and eight digs, Tayla Schulte had 39 set assists.

Region 2A

SIOUX VALLEY def. CLARK/WILLOW LAKE 25-12, 25-15, 23-25, 23-25, 15-11 in Volga - Haley Hillestad had 23 kills and four aces and four blocks for the Cossacks (23-5), who advance to the state tournament. Mariah VanderWal had 13 kills, Kaylee VanderWal had 40 set assists, three aces and 19 digs, Jo Fuhr had 18 digs.

For CWL (22-10), Chynna Stevens had 13 kills and 17 digs, Alix Katz had 12 kills, Laura Alexander had 28 set assists, Savannah Hovde had 16 digs.

Region 4A

DAKOTA VALLEY def. HARRISBURG 25-12, 25-18, 25-14 in Harrisburg - Jayde Bergmann had nine kills and six aces to advance the second-ranked Class A Panthers (26-3) to the state tournament. Erica Johnson had nine kills and seven digs, Kylie Martin had eight kills and three aces, Shyler Funck had 10 digs and four aces, Hannah Bauer had 10 digs and Lindsey Smith had 31 set assists and five aces.

For Harrisburg, Madison Fedt had nine kills, Brittany Blakney had four kills and four digs, Hailey Axtell had eight digs, Jordan Bieswanger had eight digs and 11 set assists.

Region 5A

WAGNER def. TRI-VALLEY 18-25, 25-21, 25-18, 14-25, 15-8 in Colton - Nicole Weber had 13 kills to lead the top-ranked Class A Red Raiders (30-3), to a state tournament berth. Gina Soukup had 11 kills, Sydney Breen had 20 digs, Jessa Doom had 19 digs, three aces and 39 set assists, Ali Kuca had four blocks. For T-V (22-8), Allison Cross had 18 kills and four blocks, Robyn Wingen had 10 digs, Shayla Berry had nine digs, Chelsea Amundson had five kills and five aces, Olivia Minnaert had 15 set assists and Abbie Heiberg added nine.

Region 6A

MOBRIDGE-POLLOCK def. MILLER 25-18, 25-21, 18-25, 25-19 in Gettysburg - Kayleigh Henderson had 11 kills and five blocks as the Tigers advance to the state tournament. Kady Pinney had nine kills and Ellie Rabenberg had seven kills and four aces, Laranda Wagner had 20 digs and Callie Slater had 24 set assists. For Miller, Kristen Peterka had 13 kills, Jamie Mentzer had 10 kills, three blocks and 21 digs, Denae Schlecter had 31 set assists and Emma Steeps added 18.

Region 2B

ARLINGTON def. CHESTER AREA 33-31, 20-25, 25-17, 25-23 in Arlington - Samantha Boeck had 36 kills to lead the third-ranked Class B Cardinals to a state tournament berth. Brooke Hennrich and Jadyn Christensen each had eight kills, Brooklyn Judstra had 28 digs and five aces, Christensen had 21 digs and Brett Heuer had 51 set assists. For Chester (19-7), Rachel Reiff had 11 kills and seven blocks, Jenna Reiff had 10 kills, Erin Benson had 38 digs and Jade Wolf added 30 digs and three aces, Sara Heyn had 31 set assists.

Region 4B

PARKER def. ALCESTER-HUDSON 25-17, 25-21, 25-14 in Alcester - Allison Fenner finished with 19 kills to help guide No. 2 Parker (32-0) to a state tournament berth. Amber Dysthe recorded 30 set assists and 14 digs, and Micalanne Hanten led the Pheasants with 19 digs. Jessica McKenney finished with 12 digs. For Alcester Hudson (20-11), Jamie Jansen finished with nine kills and 10 blocks, Courtney McKee recorded 22 set assists and Jessica Wegh tallied 21 digs.

Region 6B

ANDES CENTRAL def. HANSON 25-15, 25-19, 24-26, 25-19 in Menno - Krista Winckler had 16 kills, eight digs and five aces for the Eagles (29-3), who advance to the state tournament. Kelly Winckler had 12 kills, 19 digs, five blocks and three aces, Latasha Dion had 18 digs and three aces, Sierra Svatos had 15 digs and 40 set assists. For Hanson (18-8), Kynedi Cheeseman had seven kills, Lindsi Dey had 16 digs, Kelli Wenande had eight digs and four aces, Leah Marsh had eight digs, Kiera Goergen had nine set assists and Kendra Cheeseman had six kills and 10 set assists.
