The Bob Burns Dakota Bowl is staying put at Howard Wood Field.
After a dispute over contract language that created an impasse between the Sioux Falls School District (which owns the facility) and the Sioux Falls Catholic Schools, a compromise was reached this morning.
The agreement allows the game to be properly insured and keeps the event at Howard Wood Field, where it has been held since 1978. The Knights will host Roosevelt in the annual football festival on Sept. 1.
Statement from the Sioux Falls School District and O'Gorman
O'Gorman High School's Dakota Bowl festivities will be held at Howard Wood Field on September 1, 2012 as previously planned. Parties from the Sioux Falls School District and O'Gorman High School met this morning to discuss contract language for rent of Howard Wood Field. The contract language remains the same. A compound sentence was changed into two separate sentences, creating a new paragraph. This solution is agreeable to both parties. O'Gorman is in the process of collecting the required insurance documents to sign the contract, which could happen as early as later today.
