Softball: Fernley rallies from two 7-run deficits to claim Div. I-A state title (watch video)

Jordan King was pulled from the game with her team down four runs in the seventh inning so she could prepare to pitch the winner-take-all state championship 30 minutes later. But thanks to a feverish comeback under the hot sun Saturday and multiple costly mistakes by Fallon, Fernley's King rounded second and headed for home for the winning run less than 10 minutes later. King scored easily on Fallon's fourth error of the inning and seventh of the game to cap a five-run seventh and lift the Vaqueros to a 14-13 victory and the Division I-A state championship at UNLV.

Jacquelyn Sertic was the train Reed rode this postseason, and it took the Raiders places, like to a region title and to the brink of the playing for a state championship. But the Raiders fell short, falling to Palo Verde in a losers' bracket game on Friday night.
