Roundup: Reed's Gabby Williams nets 40 against Douglas

Gabby Williams was a one-woman show Friday night.

Williams scored 40 points to lead the Reed girls basketball team to a 77-42 win over Douglas in Minden.

The only thing that wasn't perfect for Williams was her 0-for-3 from the free-throw line. She also knocked down a pair of 3-pointers.

Tina Vernon added 15 points, while Megan Dettling and Brooke Cervantes each scored eight for Reed.

Douglas' Diana Regaldo led the Tigers with 13 points. Leonna Mortimore added seven.

Girls basketball

INCLINE 54, COLEVILLE 29: Molly Franklin hit three 23-pointers and scored 21 points to lead the Highlanders to a nonleague win.

Incline (4-5) also got 11 points apiece from Kortney Solis and Kerrie Tonking. Coleville was led by Daniela Sandoval's 14 points.

LOWRY 46, SPARKS 26 at Sparks: Taylor Schwartz scored 14 points to lead Lowry past Sparks. Carli Evatz added 10 points.

Krystal Parker led Sparks with 11 points, including three 3-pointers, and Katelynn Vandever added eight.

Boys basketball

NORTH VALLEYS 61, PERSHING COUNTY 55 at North Valleys: Mauricio Varela scored a game-high 23 points and teammate Ian Flannery added 20 to help the Panthers hold off the visiting Mustangs. Randolph McLean scored 15 points to lead Pershing County (10-3). North Valleys improved to 2-6.

SPANISH SPRINGS 54, MODESTO CENTRAL CATHLOLIC 41 at Spanish Springs: The Cougars used a hot start to grab a big lead and eventually went on to hand visiting Central Catholic (7-1) its first loss.

The Cougars (6-2) hit their first three shots, all 3-pointers, to jump to a 9-0 lead. Kenny Meyer and TJ McCauley each scored 13 to lead Spanish Springs.

LOWRY 53, SPARKS 30 at Sparks: Calvin Connors knocked down three 3-pointers for nine points to lead the Buckaroos.

Keiffer Putman matched that feat for Sparks, also hitting three 3-pointers to lead his team.

FERNLEY 57, SILVER STAGE 54 at Fernley: Tim Klotz scored 16 points, including four 3-pointers, and Kevin Montgomery added 15 to lead Fernley.

RENO 59, NEVADA UNION (CALIF.) 52: Connor Bush scored 16 points to lead the Huskies to a nonleague win.

Jakob Rolling added 11 points for Reno (2-6).

For Nevada Union (4-5), Nolan Stefani scored 17 points.
