High schools roundup: Serpents set pace in D-IV

Leland Graham scored 20 points to help the Mineral County boys basketball team beat Sierra Lutheran, 57-38, on Saturday and stay unbeaten in Division IV games.

Also for the Serpents (8-9 overall, 4-0 Division IV), Austin Milks and Collin Sanford each added 12 points.

Alex Borgman led Sierra Lutheran with 12 points.

Boys basketball

ELKO 58, FERNLEY 38 at Fernley: Nathan Klekas scored 16 points to lead the Indians, Brian Pearson added 14 and Tim Meo had 12.

Tim Klotz had 14 ponts for the Vaqueros, including four 3-pointers.

Girls basketball

RENO 63, MCQUEEN 22 at McQueen: Gigi Hascheff scored 13 points and Brianna Bass and Mallory McGwire each added 12 to lead the Huskies.

Morgan McGwire had 11 for Reno.

SPRING CREEK 39, CHURCHILL COUNTY 29 at Fallon: Madi Estes scored 13 points to lead the Spartans.

Cady Cordes had 14 points for the Greenwave.

BATTLE MOUNTAIN 52, CARLIN 26 at Battle Mountain: Samantha Samuelson scored 12 points and Kelsey Kroll added 10 for the Longhorns (11-5).

Renee Baum led Carlin with 10 points.

SMITH VALLEY 36, COLEVILLE 25 at Coleville: Sierra Hunewill scored 21 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Bulldogs.

Miranda Sturdivant had 10 points for the Wolves.

ELKO 35, FERNLEY 19 at Fernley: The Indians came away with the Division I-A win despite a three-point fourth quarter.

Raelynn Forcela scored eight poitns to lead Elko (9-5). For Fernley (4-12, 1-5), Jordan King had nine points.

MINERAL COUNTY 48, SIERRA LUTHERAN 6 at Hawthorne: Alicia Carlos scored 10 points to lead the Serpents.

Brittany McFalls added eight points, and Alexa McFalls and Shari Shakir each had seven

Natalie Echeverria scored half of Sierra Lutheran's points with three.

VIRGINIA CITY 53, PYRAMID LAKE 21 at Nixon: Corrina Obermayr scored 18 points and Gwen Landaburu had nine, all on 3-pointers, to lead the Muckers (11-5, 5-0).
