High school roundup: Reed boys earn playoff berth

Ty Shepard knocked down a pair of 3-pointers en route to 20 points to lead the Reed boys to a 69-61 victory over visiting North Valleys on Tuesday night and into the playoffs.

Alonzo Vega (11 points) and Trae Wells (10 ) also were in double-digit scoring as Reed improved to 9-6 in the High Desert league and clinched a postseason berth. For North Valleys, Jalil Walker scored 14 points and Mauricio Varela added 10.

Boys basketball

CARSON 65, WOOSTER 44 at Carson: Matthew Nolan scored 24 points and Rafferty King added 14 to lead the Senators, who will either the No. 3 or 4 seed out of the Sierra league.

Deshawn Pughsley had 14 points for the Colts and JJ Harloff added 13.

DOUGLAS 80, DAMONTE RANCH 45 at Douglas: Hunter Myers scored 17 points and James Herrick scored 16 to lead the Tigers. Douglas improved to 14-1 in the Sierra League.

Kyle Daugherty scored nine points for the Mustangs.

PERSHING COUNTY 53, ROP 51 at Lovelock: Randolph McLean made 10 field goals on his way to scoring 25 points to lead all scorers.

Jacob Adams added 10 points. Keytion Jackson scored 15 points for ROP.

GALENA 79, BISHOP MANOGUE 61 at Galena: Max Erickson and Caleb Wood both hit three 3-pointers and finished with 18 points to lead the Grizzlies.

Kirk Gunderson (10 points) and Trevor Larsen (11) also reached double figures. Remy Dillard scored 18 points for the Miners.

YERINGTON 45, SILVER STAGE 43 at Yerington: Harry Schlegelmilch scored 12 points including the game winner after stealing the ball with 35 seconds to play.

Jacob Ackley also had 12 points for the Lions.

Michael Swope had 11 points for Silver Stage.

SPARKS 63, NORTH TAHOE 42 at Sparks: Darius Devine scored 18 points to lead the Railroaders. Keiffer Putman hit three 3-pointers en route to scoring 11 points.

Alex Tyler scored 17 points for the Lakers.

Girls basketball

SPANISH SPRINGS 56, MCQUEEN 31 at Spanish Springs: Riley Holladay scored 14 points and had 15 rebounds to lead the Cougars.

Lyndsey Anderson (12 points) and Hannah Woytek (10) also reached double figures. Emma White scored 13 points for the Lancers.

ELKO 58, BATTLE MOUNTAIN 18 at Battle Mountain: Elko's Anna Dubois and Desirea Danner each scored 14 points to lead all scorers.

For Battle Mountain, Hannah Hale and Abbie Mikelson each scored seven points.

RENO 62, HUG 20 at Reno: Gigi Hascheff sank four 3-pointers en route to scoring 21 points to lead the Huskies.

Mallory McGwire added eight points and Morgan Taylor scored seven. For Hug, Jamilla Anderson and Christen Voyles each scored five points.

BISHOP MANOGUE 59, GALENA 24 at Galena: Gabbi Concepcion scored 13 points to lead the Miners.

Olivia Anderson had nine points for the Grizzlies

SPARKS 29, NORTH TAHOE 28 at Sparks: Maricar Diaz and Roxie Guadron each scored six points to lead the Railroaders.

Angela Wood had 16 points for the Lakers.

YERINGTON 61, SILVER STAGE 30 at Yerington: Angela Sciarani scored 20 points to lead the Lions. Leah Jim added 14 points and 11 rebounds, Carissa Lockwood had 16 rebounds. Samantha Stroud hit a pair of 3-pointers, finishing with eight points for Silver Stage.

DOUGLAS 40, DAMONTE RANCH 32 at Douglas: Diana Regaldo scored 15 points to lead all scorers. Desiree Cage added eight for the Tigers.

Morgan Waller scored 14 points for the Mustangs.

REED 60, NORTH VALLEYS 46 at Reed: Tyler Sumpter sank four 3-pointers en route to scoring 17 points. Tina Vernon scored 18 points to lead the Panthers.

North Valleys' Haley Bowen scored 20 points, shooting 6-for-6 at the free throw line.
