High school roundup: Pyramid Lake claims top seed

Sam Harry sank six 3-pointers accounting for his 18 points as Pyramid Lake defeated Virginia City at home 57-56 in a battle for the No. 1 seed in the Division IV West Regional boys basketball playoffs this week.

John Barlese made four 3-pointers on his way to scoring 16 points for the Lakers.

Quintin Allen scored 16 points for Virginia City (10-2), the No. 2 seed.

Pyramid Lake faces Eureka on Thursday in the playoffs.

Girls Basketball

INCLINE 41, SPARKS 27 at Sparks: Molly Franklin scored 19 points to lead the Highlanders.

Incline (16-12) will likely be the No. 3 seed for this week's Regional playoffs.

Krystal Parker had 13 points for Sparks, including three 3-pointers.

WHITE PINE 47, BATTLE MOUNTAIN 42 at Battle Mountain: Bailey Moore scored 16 points to lead the Bobcats.

Debra Kingston added 11 and Alli Huntington had 10.

Hannah Hale Hale scored 13 points for the Longhorns (13-13) who are expected to be the No. 6 seed for this week's Regional playoffs.

LOWRY 67, WEST WENDOVER 25 at Lowry: Kylee McClellan and Carli Evatz each scored 15 points to lead the Buckaroos. Alyssa Dendary added 13 points amongst 11 scorers for Lowry.

Maria Gil scored five points for West Wendover.

Lowry will face Spring Creek in the Regional playoffs this week.

Boys Basketball

SPARKS 53, INCLINE 42 at Sparks: Darius Devin scored 19 points to lead the Railroaders. Keiffer Putman hit five 3-pointers on his way to scoring 18 points.

Incline's Jack Bessett scored 16 points.

LOWRY 84, WEST WENDOVER 46 at Lowry: Jesse Studebaker made three 3-pointers en route to scoring 18 points to lead the Buckaroos (8-2).

Lowry enters the Division IA Regional playoffs as the No. 2 seed facing Truckee on Tuesday.

Kaydn Sharp scored 13 points for West Wendover.

SIERRA LUTHERAN 56, MINERAL COUNTY 49 at Sierra Lutheran: Alex Borgman scored a game-high 24 points to lead Sierra Lutheran to its best regular season record (8-4). Nick Walker added 14 points.

Austin Milks scored 21 points for Mineral County.

Sierra Lutheran faces Jackpot in the playoffs.
