High School roundup: North Valleys nips Wooster

In a back-and-forth girls basketball game, Alexes Rodriguez missed a 3-point shot at the buzzer, sealing the 61-58 win for home team North Valleys over Wooster.

Haley Bowen finished with 27 points, 12 boards and seven steals for the Panthers. Teammate Valerie Quam collected eight points and eight rebounds. Wooster's Rodriguez led her team with 24 points.


RENO 60, CARSON 13 at Reno: Freshman Mallory McGwire finished with 13 points and 10 boards in her debut varsity basketball game for the Huskies. Teammate Shalen Shaw was the leading scorer with 17. Reno was 16-for-24 from the field.

The Senator's top scorer was Savanah Smith with seven points.

REED 69, GALENA 14 at Reed: Reed scored 31 points in the first quarter, giving them an early lead in their win over Galena. Tyler Sumpter was the leading scorer with 21 points for the Raiders. Gabby Williams also contributed 16 points.

Kaitlyn Hawthorne was the top scorer for the Grizzlies with four points.

BISHOP MANOGUE 68, MCQUEEN 26 at Manogue: The Miners outscored the Lancers in all four quarters getting the win at home. Gabbi Concepcion was the top scorer with 20 points, sinking two 3-pointers for Manogue. Teammate Kelly Lujan was 2-for-2 at the free throw line and finished with 15 points. Emma White led the Lancers with 15 points.

SPANISH SPRINGS 46, DOUGLAS 36 at Spanish Springs: Cougars scored six points late in the fourth quarter to take the lead over Douglas and snag the win. Riley Holladay and Lyndsey Anderson were the leading scorers with 14 for the Cougars. Diana Regaldo scored 14 for the Tigers.

HUG 53, DAMONTE RANCH 50 at Hug: Christen Voyles scored a field goal late in the fourth quarter to clinch the win for Hug. Voyles and Mele Lotulelei both finished with 17 points. Damonte's Taylor Nuttall scored 18.

Boys Basketball

WOOSTER 77, NORTH VALLEYS 76 at North Valleys: JH Harloff scored 25 points and Deshanw Pughsley added 22 to lead the Colts.

For the panthers, Jesse Krueger and Jacob Heisler each had 22 points.

HUG 63, DAMONTE RANCH 38 at Hug: Sam Williams scored 20 points, helping Hug get the win at home. Teammate Felix Cox also contributed 12 points.

Brett Cooper and Tyler Young each scored eight points for Damonte.

WHITTELL 47, SIERRA LUTHERAN 36 at Sierra Lutheran: Austin Neil scored 23 points with three 3-pointers, helping the Warriors get the win over Sierra Lutheran. Teammate Garret Bronked contributed eight points. For the Falcons Alex Borgman scored 14 points.

DOUGLAS 65, SPANISH SPRINGS 57 at Spanish Springs: Spanish Springs cut an 18 point Douglas lead to two midway through the fourth quarter before the Tigers sealed the win with free throws. Austin Evans finished with 13 points, scoring all four of his 3-pointers in the second half. For Spanish Springs Austin Damoth scored 11 points.
