Former players were among those providing memories and testimonials about former McQueen coach Ken Dalton on Thursday. Here are some excerpts:
"When my first daughter, Emma, was born, he and my mom flew up (to Washington) and were actually in the delivery room. It was a challenging labor and delivery and I will never forget him telling me to 'suck it up; it's the fourth quarter.' I think he wanted to do my breathing for me."
Jen Sees, Dalton's oldest daughter
"He shaped my career path. He showed me how to be a good father, husband and family man. And I know I'm not alone in that area."
McQueen athletic director Eric Borja, a former player and assistant coach under Dalton
"I played for coach Dalton in the Sertoma game back in 1991. I broke my leg late in the game and had to have surgery that night. He sought me out and made a home visit to check on me after I was discharged from the hospital. I didn't know him for a long time, but he was still genuinely concerned and very generous with his time. It may have been a small act of kindness, but one that was very significant to me."

"I was a McQueen student in the class of 2012. Ken Dalton was my PE instructor my freshman year in McQueen. He was my absolute favorite PE instructor. The most memorable moments from him were when he never had the guys in the class run the mile, even though the girls had to. He was usually a very humble person with so much passion and he gave all of us encouragement in everything we were doing. He was a very nice, passionate and respectful person."
