Division IV state semifinals: Allen leads Muckers into state title game

Quintin Allen hit 11 field goals on the way to scoring 25 points and leading Virginia City to a 53-42 victory over Spring Mountain in the Division IV state semifinals on Friday afternoon at Chapparal High School in Las Vegas.

The Muckers' Jordan Popiela scored 11 points, including a 3-pointer. Steven Punchard, Clint Hess and Bodie Blakely combined for 17 points.

Spring Mountain's Chris Munro led the Golden Eagles with 12 points. Virginia City faces Pahranagat Valley in the state championship game at 4:15 p.m. today at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.


PAHRANAGAT VALLEY 43, JACKPOT 28 at Chaparral: Tyler Higbee scored 13 points to help the Panthers move on to the state championship game. Mason Sterling was also in double-digit scoring with 10 points. Tyson Sparrow, Austin Poulsen and Wade Leavitt combined for 20 points. Jackpot's Narciso Camacho led all scorers with 14 points and Darren Hester added nine points.

Pahranagat Valley meets Virginia City in the state championship game today.


EUREKA 57, TONOPAH 39 at Chaparral: Natalie Norcutt scored 21 points to help advance the Vandals to the Division IV state championship game. Taylor Usry added 10 points. Shara Green, Beth Damele and Melissa Demele combined for 18 points.

For Tonopah, Deanne Van Poucke led with 19 points. Elise Salsbury and Julia Klapper each scored six points. Eureka faces Pahranagat Valley for the state championship, today at 2:30 p.m. at the Orleans Arena.

PAHRANAGAT VALLEY 39, WELLS 32 at Chaparral: Bailee Hosier scored a game-high 22 points to lead Pahranagat Valley. Jamie Hansen scored seven points and Jamie Hansen added six points. Emily Pengelly led Wells with 15 points and Tia Lupeheke scored seven.

Pahranagat Valley advances to the Division IV state championship to face Eureka at 2:30 p.m. today at the Orleans Arena.
