Div. III roundup: Washington guides ROP past Whittell in quarterfinals

Terrell Washington scored 22 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, to help fourth-seeded ROP defeated Whittell, 70-61, in the opening round of the Division III North region boys tournament on Thursday in Elko.

Keytion Jackson (14 points), Hadari Baker (11 points) and David Taylor (10 points) also reached double figures.

Palmer Chaplin led Whittell with 16 points, hitting four 3-pointers. Bryce Bronken (13 points) and Austin Neil (10 points) combined for 23 points.

ROP faces Pershing County in the semifinals at 8 p.m. today at Elko.

PERSHING COUNTY 61, WHITE PINE 49 at Elko: Terrell Callao-George and Jacob Adams each scored 13 points to lead the Mustangs. Randolph McLean added 12 points.

Seth Montes and Dylan Garretson combined for 15 points. Pershing County made eight 3-pointers.

For White Pine, Nicholas Johnson scored 13 points and Chris Young scored nine points. Pershing County advances to the semifinals today at 8 p.m. against ROP at Elko High School.

WEST WENDOVER 74, INCLINE 64 at Adobe Middle School: Manny Flores hit a pair of 3-pointers on his way to scoring 20 points to lead the Wolverines.

Kaydn Sharp (18 points) and Kylar Sharp (13 points) also reached double figures.

For Incline, Matt Hanna scored 20 points. Jack Clouthier and Jack Bessett each scored 14 points. West Wendover faces Silver Stage in the semifinals at 4:40 p.m. today at Elko.

SILVER STAGE 70, NORTH TAHOE 40 at Adobe Middle School: Michael Swope (12 points) and Shawn Roe (10 points) were among three players to reach double figures for Silver Stage. Joey Kellogg added six points.

For North Tahoe, Alex Tyler (13 points) and Colin Spencer (15 points) were in double-digit scoring for North Tahoe.

Silver Stage faces West Wendover in the semifinals at 4:40 p.m. today at Elko High School.

Girls Basketball

PERSHING COUNTY 67, WEST WENDOVER 27 at Elko: Melissa Gonzales scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Mustangs.

Leah Hollan and Sarita Jo Condie each scored 12 points. Samantha Dennler and Abby Bake combined for 17 points.

For West Wendover, Ryann Gentry scored 10 points and Maria Gil added four points.

Pershing County faces Incline in the Div. III North region semifinals today at 6:20 p.m. at Elko.

INCLINE 53, NORTH TAHOE 42 at Elko: Kortney Solis hit a pair of 3-pointers en route to scoring 14 points to lead the Highlanders. Kerrie Tonking added 11 points. Molly Franklin, Kyra Porter and Sarah Wright combined for 24 points.

North Tahoe's Angela Wood led all scorers with 20 points. Sara Trimm scored 14 points.

Incline faces Pershing County in the Div. III Northern regional semifinals today at 6:20 p.m. at Elko.

WHITE PINE 48, WHITTELL 32 at Adobe Middle School: Bailey Moore scored 17 points to lead White Pine.

Haidn Windous and Debra Kingston each scored 10 points.

For Whittell, Amanda Harris hit three 3-pointers en route to scoring 18 points. White Pine advances to meet Battle Mountain in the semifinals at 3 p.m. today at Elko.

BATTLE MOUNTAIN 44, YERINGTON 36 at Adobe Middle School: Hannah Hale scored 19 points to lead the Longhorns. Abbie Mikelson added nine points.

For Yerington, Carissa Lockwood and Nadalee Lindberg each scored seven points. Battle Mountain faces White Pine at 3 p.m. today in the semifinals at Elko.
