Holding Mahopac to 25 second half-points, the Arlington High School boys basketball team earned a 64-58 opening-round win in the Carolyn Conroy Memorial Tournament at Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak on Friday.
Arlington (1-0) will face host Lakeland on Saturday at 6 p.m. in the final. The Hornets defeated Greenburgh in the other semifinal, 72-45. Gio Rodriguez scored a team-high 18 points for the Admirals, while Mike Duffy chipped in 11 points. "We had a slow start offensively," Arlington coach Matt Hoyt said. "It took us a little time to get going, but I thought our defense in the second half was excellent. Our defense led to some easy baskets, some easy transition layups." Hoyt said he did watch Lakeland's win. "This is their tournament and their home floor," Hoyt said. "Any time you play on the road is always difficult."
