Palm Desert High School senior Abe Hewko knows this will be his last shot at winning a CIF singles title after coming so close as a sophomore, when he reached the semifinal. However, Hewko is honest in that he's not in prime condition like he has been.

New format, similar success for Palm Desert tennis

Bullard High School's boys' tennis team had to travel approximately 10 hours and nearly 700 miles roundtrip to Rancho Las Palmas to lose to Palm Desert High School in a match that lasted less than 90 minutes Tuesday.

La Quinta struggles to find its offense in loss

Trevor Abshire took the mound Tuesday under perhaps the most difficult circumstances he's faced all year. La Quinta already trailed by two runs in the second inning with one out and the bases loaded. He was inserted for starter Casey Costello to keep the game from slipping out of reach.

Blackhawks, Knights find road success
