  1. Palm Desert tennis upsets Torrey Pines to advance

Thanks to a big turnaround, Connor Rapp and Sebastian Gomez rallied to win their No. 2 doubles match to clinch the fourth victory and lead No. 7 seeded Palm Desert to an upset over No. 2 seed Torrey Pines in the quarterfinals of the CIF USTA southern regional Friday at Claremont Club.

It was all Morgan Earman in Friday's CIF baseball quarterfinal game between Desert Christian and Webb (Claremont). The starting pitcher had a perfect game through five innings, and drove in six runs to lead the Conquerors to a 10-1 victory in the Division VI playoff.

Palm Desert High School didn't get the victory they had hoped for against San Marino in a rematch of the CIF Division II Southern Section finals, but coach Randy Blalock felt his team did earn redemption.
