THE WINNER: Andrea Ostenso

THE BASICS

School: Ladysmith (Wis.)
Grade: Senior
Height: 5-foot-2

Athletic achievement: She won a Division 3 individual state championship this past season with a time of 14:34.59. A 2012 first team All-State selection, Ostenso was the fastest Wisconsin competitor at the 2012 Foot Locker Midwest Regional championships, crossing the line in 18:01 to capture 12th place.

Academic excellence: Ostenso has maintained a 4.0 GPA.

Exemplary character: A member of the National Honor Society as well as the Math Team and president of her school’s student council, she has volunteered locally on behalf of the American Red Cross and as a vacation bible school counselor.

THE PRAISE

“Andrea Ostenso excels in both athletics and academics at our school,” said Ladysmith athletic director Rick Vollendorf. “She has fought through injuries and persevered like a champion and is one of the brightest, most diligent students I have ever taught.”

THE FUTURE: Ostenso has committed to Northwestern University.
