High School Football Weekend Rewind: Week 3 Videos

Top videos from high school football

11:33 AM, Sep. 11, 2012 EDT

Every week during the high school football season, we'll take a look at some of the more interesting videos that appear on YouTube. From highlights and lowlights, to interviews and outtakes, everything is fair game. Our first installment of Weekend Rewind features a hip-hop anthem, two videos that put the special in special teams and a Top 10 countdown.

Naples High 'Til I Die

The Naples (Fla.) football team is 2-0 and has outscored its first two opponents 105-49. Now the Eagles have their own hip-hop anthem. The 3-minute single, which was produced by Naples-based hip-hop artist Luc Mazzini II of StraightFlowRecords, is family friendly (no radio edit necessary). A sample verse:

Blue and Gold this,
Blue and Gold that,
Golden Eagle on the side of the helmet always know that,
Don't try to run up on an Eagle you'll be on your back,
Hope you prepared for war,
We're goin' to combat.

I've never tried to run up on an Eagle. I never will.

Ted The Punter Gets Thrashed

I have no idea what compelled the person who shot this video circa 2007 to upload it to YouTube this weekend, but thank you, sir, whoever you are. The game appears to be a Greater Western Ohio Conference showdown between the Springboro Panthers and Lebanon Warriors. Comparing the names and numbers on the jerseys to previous years' rosters leads me to believe this footage was shot in 2007, when Springboro beat Lebanon 26-6. Punter Ted Garland mishandles the snap and gets laid out, leading to a Warriors touchdown and this classic exchange:

Videographer: “So that’s the first time Ted’s been hit, I think, this year.”
Man Nearby: “Did you get that on film?”

Yes. Yes, he did. I hope, for Ted's sake, that was the first and only time he got hit that year.

Oh No...

It's unclear when this video was shot, but it features Elliot Christian (Lodi, Calif.) punter Clayton Silva making the most out of a bad situation. Props to the videographer for maintaining a steady hand throughout the play, which begins with him saying, "Oh no. Oh no, no no no...". Perhaps he was too stunned to say anything else.
