Mount Carmel (Chicago) senior point guard and Indiana commit Tyra Buss is playing her way into consideration for the postseason American Family Insurance ALL-USA girls basketball team.
Buss eclipsed the 60-point plateau in back-to-back games before the New Year, breaking Brittany Johnson's state record for career points (4,031) and raising her scoring average to 47.4 points per game in the process. Buss scored 60 points in a win over Gibson Southern (Fort Branch, Ind.) on Dec. 27 and followed that with 66 points in an 84-82 loss to Princeton (Ind.) the next day.
"I didn't know that I had 60 (on Friday); I had no idea because I was just in a zone," Buss told the Chicago Tribune. "I was going to do whatever I could to help the team win on Saturday. (Sixty-six points) was just unbelievable. I was in a zone."
