The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was a high school basketball star (Video)

I really hadn't thought much about "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" until I read that Beaver County (Pa.) schools were locked down last week after a receptionist misheard a student's voicemail greeting (the theme song from the once-popular sitcom) as a threat about "shooting some people outside of school." The actual lyrics, of course, are "shooting some bball outside of school."

In any event, I had forgotten just how much of a baller Will Smith was at Bel-Air Academy. Or that he played on what appears to be a 40-foot court. He's even got his own highlight video.

Here's IMDB's synopsis of the "Courting Disaster" episode in season one:

Will joins the school basketball with Carlton already on it. Will becomes the star of the team and Carlton becomes jealous and the competition between the two starts. Carlton decides to steal the ball from Will and take the game winning shot.

Predictably, that plan didn't work out too well.

In the same episode, Will dreams that he goes one-on-one with Isaiah Thomas and registers an Oladipo-like block on the Detroit Pistons legend.

Ah, memories.
