In the pantheon of Wedding Bouquet Passes, this one from last Friday has to rank near the top.
Trailing 14-9 with less than a minute to play, Ravenna (Ohio) quarterback Tate Bennett took a snap at the Field (Ohio) 7-yard line and rolled to his left. As Falcons defenders converged on the senior QB and started to drag him down, Bennett heaved a backwards pass into the end zone, where sophomore Warren Bradley snagged it for the game-winning touchdown.
“I just threw the ball into the end zone — I had no idea where it was going to go,” Bennett said after the game. “I just really was hoping that someone would make a play.”
Warren's grab capped a 99-yard drive by the Ravens and salvaged what had been, to that point, an ugly night for the offense. Bennett finished 9-of-19 for 88 yards with two interceptions and one improbable touchdown
