Hockinson (Brush Prairie, Wash.) basketball fans rushed the court Wednesday to celebrate what they thought was a 71-70 win over previously unbeaten Camas. There was just one problem: there was still 1 second left on the clock.
Officials called a technical foul and Camas' Jordan Lenard made both free throws, giving the Papermakers an incredible 72-71 win.
"It's something I've never seen before," Hockinson coach Trevor Person told The Columbian. "To me, our 13 guys won the game. Our 13 did as much as we could that was in our control."
Alan Haagen, who gave Hockinson the lead by making three free throws with 1 second to play, managed to laugh about the loss afterward, while also expressing support for Hockinson's student section.
