9:06 AM, Dec. 17, 2012 EST

Newtown (Conn.) football coach Steven George and teacher Bob Pattison left a message on a whiteboard at Newtown High School for President Obama after they learned that Obama would address mourners in the school auditorium on Sunday night.

A couple of hours after Obama's 18-minute speech, George, who teaches Tech Ed at Newtown, tweeted a photo of the president's response.

If you can't make out the small print, here's the transcript of both messages:

"Dear President Obama,

The Newtown community is so thankful that you are coming to help us heal. In times of adversity it is reassuring to know that we have a strong leader to help us recover."

- Steve George, Teacher/Football Coach
- Bobby Pattison, Teacher

Obama's response:

"You're in our thoughts and prayers."
