What: Nike KD V BHM Basketball Shoe
When: Jan. 26
The Scoop: Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant’s fifth signature basketball shoe, the KD V, gets a colorful makeover with black, grey, brown and orange highlights. The new version is part of a Black History Month apparel and shoe collection produced by Nike.
Durant was among three athletes — including soccer star Didier Drogba and tennis legend Serena Williams — the brand is recognizing in the collection thanks to a strong commitment to charitable works in the community.
As a result, the NBA All-Star served as creative inspiration, and it’s showcased through a specially crafted logo of a basketball hoop merging with a cloud.
The design detail — integrated into a print pattern visible throughout the collection — honors Durant’s support within his hometown rec center in Seat Pleasant, Md., where he credits for allowing him to recognize his future ambitions.
The shoe's performance details include an external heel counter in the midsole for natural support giving you freedom to move. Max Air cushioning in the heel offers impact protection when landing and sprinting. And the forefoot includes a Zoom Air bag for a responsive feel.
