What: Kobe 8 Basketball Shoe
When: Dec. 20
The Scoop: Kobe Bryant’s newest signature basketball shoe is lighter, lower and made to move in better harmony with your foot.
The shoe was designed to serve as an extension of Bryant’s foot and mimic his playing style — speedy and low to the ground.
The construction shaves off a little height and weight, keeping the shoe super light (men’s size 9 drops at 9.6 ounces) and the lowest profile kick in the Kobe series thus far.
The outsole is even made with slightly less rubber to help keep you light on your feet. The pattern features classic herringbone for solid traction.
The Kobe 8 pushes design limits as the first basketball shoe made with Nike Engineered Mesh. The material acts as a second skin, hugging the foot and mimicking its natural motion. The mesh is woven tightly to provide strong and flexible support around your foot.
The design also takes on a scale-like appearance that represents Bryant’s signature mamba pattern. Another style element is called out on the shoe tongue, which features a snake graphic.
