The Scoop: The 4040 eight-metal spike is built with Abzorb cushioning in the midfoot, foam technology that helps with shock absorption and aims to alleviate spike pressure.
In an effort to keep the shoe lightweight, designers carved away excess material from the sides of the plate and ball of the midsole.
Sculpted plastic on the cleat plate aids with traction, and the low cut gives the foot a closer-to-the-ground feel.
The lining pops a camo design, an element taken from Dustin Pedroia’s pro cleat model.
The 4040 cleat is also designed with a wider toe box to better support natural foot movement.
