First things first. You've got to see the new uniforms that the football team at Atlantic (Delray Beach, Fla.) is wearing. According to the Palm Beach Post, the neon green duds were designed by Ryan Boylston of Delray-based Futuristic Woo. They're futuristic alright. In less blinding news...
Mick McCabe of the Detroit Free Press recently sat down with Lutheran North (Macomb, Mich.) senior J.J. McGrath to chat about the kicker's incredible season. McGrath booted a 57-yard field goal in the season opener and a 54-yarder one week later, which, combined with the 53-yarder he kicked as junior, give him three of the six longest field goals in state history.
Yet, McGrath only wanted to talk about his tackling skils.
"Did you see that hit I made last week?" he asked with an excited tone in his voice. "I should be playing linebacker!"
McGrath attended 16 camps over the summer in an effort to attract the attention of a Division I school. Kicking scholarships are hard to come by, and McGrath would prefer not to have to walk-on.
McGrath and the Mustangs host Bishop Foley (Madison Heights, Mich.) tonight.
