Mission Athletecare arm sleeves aim to keep athletes cool

Daily Dose: Arm sleeves built with cooling technology and UPF protection

Mission Athletecare made arm sleeves that feature built-in cooling properties, which activate when wet.

The Scoop: Confession: This girl is currently crushing on florescent arm sleeves. But before you judge me, let me introduce you to them.

Created by Mission Athletecare, the new arm sleeves are unusual for their advanced technology. When soaked with water, wrung out and snapped, a radiator-like fiber construction in the sleeve circulates water molecules and regulates the rate of evaporation to create a prolonged cooling effect. An added benefit is UPF 45 protection from the sun.

The upper portion of the sleeve is constructed to minimize chafing around your biceps. Mesh panels for the interior helps with ventilation.

The wrist area has a small pocket for storing an ID, keys or cash. The sleeve pocket also seems welcoming for an energy gel. Note, there’s no zipper to fully secure these goods. I tucked a few folded bucks inside, and it felt appropriately sheltered. If you have keys or an ID, however, consider either tucking them inside the sleeve or in a zipped pocket on your training short or shirt.
