Military mom watches daughter score 1,000th point via Ustream thanks to coach's assist

The Edison (Alexandria, Va.) girls basketball team opened its season in early December in a tournament at Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.). Before the tournament, Paul VI coach Scott Allen received a Facebook message from Edison senior Jessica Harris' mom, who is in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Afghanistan last summer.

Harris' mom wanted a T-shirt.

"I told her first of all you are not paying for a t-shirt," Allen told WUSA9's Dave Owens. "Then I said Edison plays at 3:00 today, would you be able to watch because we're gonna stream the game live."

Harris' mom logged on and watched her daughter's 1,000th career point.

"I knew in the back of my mind I know my mom's watching," Harris said.

To top things off, Allen arranged an interview between Harris and her mom after the game.
