The Episcopal School of Jacksonville today announced that former NFL quarterback Mark Brunell will be its next football coach.
“Episcopal is an ideal fit for me and my family and I am excited about this new chapter in my life,” Brunell said in a school release. “I look forward to this opportunity to continue to build a first rate football program at Episcopal.”
Brunell, who served as an assistant coach for Providence (Jacksonville) last season, replaces David Hess, who resigned in December after the Eagles finished 3-6 and missed the state playoffs. Hess compiled a 38-45 record in eight seasons.
Brunell played nine of his 17 NFL seasons in Jacksonville and was named to three Pro Bowls during that span.
