Goose Creek, the No. 11 team in the Super 25 football rankings, will compete in the playoffs on Friday after all.
The South Carolina High School League had been ruled the school out of the playoffs, saying it had used an ineligible player. When the school lost an appeal to the SCHSL, it argued its case before a judge Friday.
Judge Robert Young of the Ninth Circuit granted a temporary restraining order in favor of Goose Creek, meaning the Gators can play Bluffton tonight in the 4AA Division II playoffs. However, he ordered the SCHSL to reconvene on Monday if see if there were extraordinary circumstances, so even if Goose Creek wins Friday, it could be ruled out of the next round.
