Fayetteville (Ark.) school district athletic director Barry Gebhart was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of stalking a child online, according to multiple outlets.
KSFM reports that deputies arrested Gebhart, 50, at the Pinnacle Hill Mall in Rogers, where he allegedly went to meet an underage girl. The meeting was part of a sting operation, and the Benton county sheriff`s office told KSFM that there was no real-life 14-year-old girl involved.
Fayetteville school superintendent Vicki Thomas said that Gebhart has been placed on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation, and sent a letter to parents urging other potential victims to come forward.
Bond was set at $750,000. Gebhart, who stepped down as head coach of the boy's basketball team at Fayetteville High School in 2011, is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 2.
