One day before his Not-Top-10-worthy, five-interception performance against the Falcons, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees helped an Ohio youth football player land a spot on SportsCenter's Top 10 for an improbable pick-six. (No, Brees didn't throw this one.)
Brees tweeted a link to a video of Mason, Ohio, 7-year-old Michael Niere, who makes a no-look interception on a tipped pass and starts to run the wrong way before realizing his mistake.
The video, which was shot during a game in October, was uploaded to Swink, a website that allows you to "create highlights of your best plays in just minutes." Oh, and would you look at that: Brees is a spokesman for the site.
The play is pretty great, though, so we applaud Brees for the promotion.
“Michael is very excited, but he was very self conscious [Thursday] morning,” Michael's mom, Judy Niere, told WCPO.com. “At first he was saying ‘Mom, stop talking about it with people.’ But now he says, ‘I am awesome!”
Yes, you are Michael. The same can't be said for Brees last night.
