THE WINNER: Allie Ostrander

THE BASICS

School: Kenai Central(Kenai, Alaska)
Grade: Sophomore
Height: 5-foot

Athletic achievement: She raced to the Class 4A individual state championship this past season with a time of 18:46. The state’s returning Gatorade Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year, Ostrander also won the Skyview Invitational, the Bartlett Invitational, the Palmer Invitational and the Region III championship.

Academic excellence: Ostrander has maintained a 4.0 GPA in the classroom.

Exemplary character: A devoted member of her church youth group, she has volunteered on behalf of a local food bank and youth soccer programs.

THE PRAISE

“She’s clearly been in a class of her own,” said Marcus Dunbar, head coach at Kodiak (Alaska). “She’s a special runner. I think she’s someone who could make a mark at the national level.”

THE FUTURE: Ostrander will begin her junior year of high school this fall.
