What: Adidas Lionel Messi adizero F50 Cleat
When: March 1
Where: adidas.com
The Scoop: Lionel Messi, the four-time reigning FIFA World Player of the Year, teamed up with adidas to create the adizero F50, a lightweight cleat releasing as part of his signature soccer footwear and apparel collection.
The 5.8-ounce red and white cleat integrates Messi’s mantra — "give all for your team" — on the insole. On the bottom, a stand-alone red stud among 10 white studs represents Messi and his teammates. The detail plays on his philosophy of being only as strong and the team around him.
The brand says the cleat is made to perform in all weather thanks to its water-wicking material and elevated ridge pattern, which allows water to slide off and help keep the foot dry.
The cleat also aims to help the foot maintain better ball control with a technology called “sprintweb”, which the brand says stabilizes the heel as you accelerate and make sharp and quick changes of direction.
