What: adiPure Gazelle
When: Mid-August
How much: $100
Where: adidas.com and Eastbay.com
The Scoop: The adiPure Gazelle — part of adidas’ first natural running shoe collection — is a lightweight shoe built for athletes new to minimalist running.
The shoe uses stretch mesh to provide the foot with flexibility. The idea is to subtly shift how foot muscles adapt on the ground to make them stronger and train them to move more efficiently.
Construction includes reduced height between the heel and forefoot to encourage running on the ball of the foot. The heel is also angled to promote a mid-heel strike.
