Jamaal Clayborn rarely cracked a smile or said a word to Zach and Jake Williams on Wednesday when it was time for a photo shoot at the Williams' north Jackson home.
Zach and Jake didn't really say much to him either.
You wouldn't have known that they're almost like brothers.
They live in the same home. They hang out and play video games together. They even get on each others' nerves from time to time.
But things are quite different since it's Jackson Academy vs. Jackson Prep week.
Clayborn, a 6-foot-4, 320-pound offensive lineman, plays for JA, which is 7-0 and ranked No. 1 in Academy AAA.
Zach and Jake are starting defensive backs and wide receivers for Prep, which is 7-0 and ranked No. 2.
The two teams play tonight at 7 in Flowood.
Forest Hills Eastern (Mich.) will honor former student Nate Hurwitz, who died in September, as part of its first "Family, Friends and Heroes" football game tonight. The event is intended to "honor all those people who have made a difference in the lives of Forest Hills Eastern students."
"I don't remember ever seeing Nate without a smile," junior Chris Cantu, a defensive lineman on the football team, told WZZM-TV. "He was at our lunch table and he was at our Powder Puff practices and games. Every time I looked at him, even when I was sad, he would have that smile on."
Future Division-I QBs Square Off in Florida
Island Coast (Fla.) quarterback Kurt Benkert and Fort Myers (Fla.) quarterback T.J. Douglas were teammates during the summer, but the seniors will be on opposite sidelines tonight. The game will go a long way toward determining the District 6A-11 champion and runner-up.
A Decade of Dominance
Climax-Scotts (Mich.) coach Kevin Langs won his 100th game in the last 10 seasons last Friday. He'll go for No. 101 tonight against Bellevue (Mich.).
