Off the clock, Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo stays in the game — the style game that is. Rondo’s threads look effortlessly put together. But the All-Star point guard’s stylist, Calyann Barnett, puts in plenty of work behind the scenes.
Barnett is in the midst of closet-cleansing Rondo’s wardrobe. On tap this season, expect to see him in more suits, V-neck sweaters, hats and a shoe lineup Barnett says is gonna be “crazy.”
And while we can’t go directly into Rondo’s closet, how about some style advice to go into yours?
Check out Barnett's pointers, along with five items trending this fall.
Varsity jacket with colorful sleeves
Leather is all over the place. From T-shirts to jeans to button-ups, there are many ways to wear it, but one Barnett especially likes is a tailored varsity jacket.
While black is always a go-to, don’t be afraid to pop some color. Try a jacket with a blue body and green leather sleeves; a black body with red sleeves works well, too. Layer on some fun flavor with lapel pins.
If you’re one to shy away from bold and bright threads, you can still take a chance starting with your feet. Colorful socks jazz up a simple outfit. Barnett’s rule: “Go crazy. Make sure they never match.”
Plain, patterned or both, scarfs are in, especially in shades of army green, brown and burnt orange — popular colors this fall.
This is a staple because you can dress it up or down. Pair it with jeans or wear it with black plants.
Can’t picture it? They’re sweat pants with pockets and buttons of a regular jean. And you can wear them with a denim jacket, a button-up and tie to combine fun style elements that still read business.
