Senior discus thrower Codie Hamsley had to settle for a personal best Thursday night in the Bloomington North Regional. Hamsley, the favorite to win the state title in his signature event, cruised to the regional title with a toss of 201 feet, 3 inches, his first 200-plus throw in a meet.

Brittney Bonesteel singled with two outs in the top of the seventh to score Alyssa Donnell from second base, giving Jennings County a 3-2 victory over Bedford North Lawrence in the Class 4-A Sectional title game Thursday night at Jeffersonville.

Floyd Central girls' tennis team defeats Jeffersonville 5-0 in Silver Creek Regional

For the sixth consecutive year, the Floyd Central girls' tennis team came up aces at the regional. The Lady Highlanders topped Jeffersonville 5-0 Thursday to win the Silver Creek Regional and move on to the team semistate.

Scottsburg High School senior Morgan McNeely ran so fast she lost two spikes in her left shoe Tuesday night. Even that wardrobe malfunction didn't slow her down. McNeely won the regional title in the 400 meters, shattering her own school record.
