Fulton wins 4A title

COOKEVILLE — 

Fulton won its fourth state title in the past 10 seasons with a 39-14 win over Covington on Saturday in the Class 4A final at Tennessee Tech's Tucker Stadium.

The Falcons (13-2) won 3A championships in 2003, 2004 and 2006.

Offensive MVP Penny Smith passed for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Teammate Darryl Rollins rushed for 142 yards and one touchdown on 28 carries.

Covington took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter before Fulton scored six straight touchdowns.

Covington (14-1), a four-time runner-up, finished one win short of its first title.

Chargers running back Daiqu'on Norfolk rushed for 113 yards on just five carries.
