MINNEAPOLIS - The Wayzata football team defeated Eastview in the opening round of the state quarterfinals.
After the Lightning scored the game's first touchdown on defense, the Trojans answered right back. Jeff Borchardt returned the kick 98 yards for a touchdown to tie the game. Borchardt added a rushing touchdown later in the first quarter and Tanner Bedard added a 44-yard touchdown as well to help give Wayzata a 28-14 lead at halftime.
The Lightning made a comeback in the second half when Will Rains ran in for a seven yard touchdown to cut the lead to one score. The momentum was short lived as Borchardt broke off a 69-yard touchdown run to seal the victory for Wayzata.
