ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Holy Family football team defeated Hill-Murray 27-23 in their state quarterfinals matchup.
Holy Family jumped out to an early lead when Chazz Johnson scored from six yards out to give the Fire a 7-0 lead. In the second quarter, Johnson caught a touchdown pass to extend Holy Family's lead to 13-0. The Pioneers made a comeback before halftime when Michael Alada scored on a 62-yard touchdown run to cut the lead to one score.
The Fire answered right back and Johnson scored another touchdown, this time a 64 yarder on the ground to give the Fire a 20-6 lead. The Pioneers made the game close but Holy Family pulled away in the end to advance to the next round of the state tournament.
