Section 6-6A: Minnetonka 35, Hopkins 14

MINNETIONKA, Minn. - The Minnetonka Skippers defeated the Hopkins Royals football team 35-14 to advance in the section tournament.

Both the Skippers and the Royals battled back and forth all game long, taking a 14-14 tie into the third quarter, which is when the Skippers broke the game open. Minnetonka quarterback Nick Rooney scored on a quarterback sneak to give the Skippers a 21-14 lead. Minnetonka added to their lead when Ian Cote scored on a 13-yard touchdown run to give the Skippers a 27-14 lead. Rooney ran in for another score in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for Minnetonka.
