MAHTOMEDI, Minn. - In 4AAAAA, the 4/5 game was a big one between Mahtomedi and Irondale. And these two teams were very evenly matched.
The Zephyrs scored in the 1st quarter and it looked like it might just be the start of a good offensive night. But it turns out, it was the exception to a great defensive game.
Both teams clamped down defensively at that point and didn't allow much of anything for the rest of the game. The Zephyrs were able to punch it into the end zone once more late in the game. But that was it for the offense as they beat Irondale 14-0.
Mahtomedi now moves on to play top-seeded Totino-Grace in the next round.
