GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - With the start of the winter prep season, the girls' basketball season proves to be an exciting one with many of the top players returning.
As the New Year gets started, we compiled a preview of the top girls' basketball players in the state in the Preseason American Family Insurance All-Twin Cities Girls Basketball Team.
Note: Coffey led the Royals in scoring last season while dominating on the defensive side of the ball. The senior has signed on to play basketball at Northwestern next year.
Note: January can score from anywhere on the floor, whether its driving to the basket for a layup or draining a bucket from behind the arc. January averaged 22 points a game last season and she also starred for Richfield's track team as well as the volleyball team.
Note: Johnson averaged over 17 points and 7 rebounds for the Islanders last season. Johnson plays all over the court and has signed on to play at Iowa State next year.
Note: Bell, an incredibly quick and agile player, saw her stock soar the past few years. Only a junior, Bell is rated as one of the top recruits in the nation by ESPN. She has already committed to play basketball at the University of Minnesota.
Note: Rated as a five-star recruit, Braham is the highest rated player in the state for graduating seniors. Braham averaged over 35 points and 11.5 rebounds a game last season. She has committed to play basketball at Vanderbilt.
