Preseason American Family Insurance ALL-Twin Cities Boys Basketball Team

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - With the start of the winter prep season, the boys' basketball season proves to be an exciting one with many of the top players returning.

As the New Year gets started, we compiled a preview of the top boys' basketball players in the state in the Preseason American Family Insurance All-Twin Cities Boys Basketball Team.

Tyus Jones
6-1, 171
PG
Apple Valley
Note: Jones is one of the top recruits for the 2014 class going into the season. The junior averaged nearly 30 points a game last season as he led the Eagles to the section finals in Class 4A. Jones is being highly recruited by the nation's top collegiate programs.

Rashad Vaughn
6-5, 200
SG
Robbinsdale Cooper
Note: Vaughn is widely considered one of the top scorers in the 2014 class heading into his junior season. He can consistently knock down his 3-point shot from all over the floor and has an effective mid-range game that has drawn the attention of many college coaches.

Ian Theisen
6-8, 225
C
Osseo
Note: Theisen averaged a double-double last season as he helped lead the Orioles to the Class 4A state title game and scored the game-winning bucket, as Osseo finished the season with a 30-2 record. Theisen has scholarship offers from Drake and Northern Colorado.

Reid Travis
6-7, 240
SF
DeLaSalle
Note: Travis scored 20 points and hauled in 18 rebounds for the Islanders in last season's Class 3A title game. Travis has many scholarship offers from programs across the country, including Purdue and Butler. Travis was a dual threat and played quarterback for the DeLaSalle football team.

Grant Shaeffer

Eden Prairie
Note: It will be up to the senior to lead the Eagles to the state semifinals for the third consecutive year. Shaeffer was also a star quarterback for the state champion Eden Prairie football team.
